Some of the Magellan stuff looks good and is probably comparable or better than Garmin, but I don't have any experience with their offerings. I did download Birdseye.not sure I'll keep using it for my purposes, but the image is very detailed, just don't expect to see something like all of Big Bend in great detail due to memory size requirements. I suppose with the external antenna, satellite reception is considerably better with these units than the etrex series.

Plus, if you're ever with a party with other 650 series users, you have the benefit of the GMRS radio capability. Tons of features I'll never use and I'm admittedly still in the learning curve. It has 100k topos of the US pre loaded, and you can add more maps if you want. A vehicle tracking system combines the use of automatic vehicle location in individual vehicles with software that collects these fleet data for a comprehensive picture of vehicle locations. The gps would at least say it didn't know where i was.īased on that experience, i decided to get a new gps. The phone indicated that i was in the wrong place. The phone GPS was all over the place (it lost me too, but it doesn't let you know when it has lost you - unlike the flashing ? mark on the handheld gps). It lost my track several times, so I was also using my phone to help navigate. I took it my new deer least to play around/get familiar with it and find some points I hadn't seen yet. one of the originals and was planning to take it to Colorado on an elk hunt this year.
